Sterling Volunteers Partners with Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership

In early September, we were able to share the details of our volunteer screening partnership with FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), an organization that works to promote a passion for science, math, technology and engineering in grades K through 12. Sharing our platform with FIRST allowed them to expand their volunteer screening process to make it easier on volunteers, and safer for all the youth participating in their programs. Today we are pleased to announce yet another exciting partnership with Center for Volunteer and Non-Profit Leadership (CVNL).
In the nonprofit sector, there is no shortage of good will. Volunteers dedicate hundred, if not thousands of hours to support their communities. But without guidance, resources, and a foundation of business knowledge, nonprofit groups can easily fall short of their goals. CVNL strives to empower local leaders by providing them the tools and critical knowledge to help their nonprofits succeed. Individuals can access various resources on fundraising, professional development, volunteer management resources, board governance, volunteer recruitment solutions and programs designed to help agencies build successful programs.
Since 1964, the national award-winning Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL) has influenced positive change by helping to develop strong volunteer managers. As an organization, they advance nonprofits and volunteerism by strengthening leadership, encouraging innovation, and empowering individuals to engage the community around them.
As part of their service offerings, CVNL offers a comprehensive array of programs, including:
• Education & Training
• Customized Consulting Services
• Executive Search & Transition Services
• Volunteer Management & Leadership
• Special Events, Conferences, & Forums
CVNL has a rich history of encouraging volunteerism, and offering easy access to meaningful opportunities for individuals, families, groups, and businesses alike. To learn more, check out their website.
Impacting a New Generation of Leaders
For 50 years, Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership has helped develop leaders, both aspiring and established. Sterling Volunteers is very excited to be partnering with CVNL to help offer yet another way nonprofit groups in the Bay Area can improve their volunteer programs.
Typical background screening processes are costly and time consuming for both the volunteer and for the organization. And since many individuals volunteer with more than one organization, the repeat screening process can be a barrier. Sterling Volunteers’ Fast-Pass will be a tremendous benefit to individuals volunteering with CVNL partners, permitting them to share their background check with any other nonprofit organization in the Sterling Volunteers community.
Anton Timms, Director of Volunteer Services for CVNL shared that “Sterling Volunteers will give our partnering agencies the ability to more effectively screen volunteers so they don’t have to wait to start making an impact.” Volunteers will be able to benefit from a faster and more user-friendly process, cost-sharing features and Fast-Pass background check sharing capabilities.
On the same note, Sterling Volunteers is excited to be growing its community of nonprofit members. As our Vice President of Client Experience, Katie Zwetzig noted, “The more volunteers and organizations that join our platform, the greater the ability to reuse a background check, save time and money, and foster more and better volunteering.”
