Katie is excited to be leading the revolutionary change Sterling Volunteers is bringing to the nonprofit and volunteer industry. She has been at the forefront of the screening industry for the last 14 years and founded her own background screening company, Tandem Select. Katie holds an MA in Marketing from Colorado State University and a BA in Finance and Marketing from The University of Colorado. Katie feels strongly that nonprofits and volunteerism are at the heart of a strong community. She is a dedicated volunteer, sitting on many boards and committees in Northern Colorado. She is based in Ft. Collins, Colorado where she lives with her husband and 3 daughters.

Toby Chalberg

Head of Client Success

Toby is excited to lead the Sterling Volunteers Client Success Team. He has spent the last 20+ years in the nonprofit sector building the volunteerism movement across the US and the world. His mission-minded focus has made it easier for more people to discover and engage with the important causes in their communities. Toby joins the Sterling Volunteers team from Points of Light, the world’s leading nonprofit dedicated to volunteering, where he built experiences for leading public policy efforts, implementing digitally enabled corporate partnerships and cause marketing campaigns, and developing innovative digital products all in support of organizations and their missions. A graduate from Vanderbilt University with Interdisciplinary Honors, he enjoys strategizing on ways to strengthen the volunteer sector and connect more people to the organizations that need them most. Toby is based in Atlanta, Georgia where he lives with his wife and three sons.

Kimberly Chochon

Vice President, Partnerships

Kimberly spearheads strategic business alliances for Sterling Volunteers. She thrives on building long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships and has become a trusted advisor to many national nonprofit organizations in screening best practices. She is passionate about educating nonprofits and their affiliates on the important role a quality background screening program plays in helping mitigate risk and creating safer environments. Kimberly holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Washington State University and is based in Seattle, Washington where she enjoys volunteering at local animal shelters.
